Connect Claude and ChatGPT to your books.
SuperBooks runs a remote MCP server. Add it to Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client and sign in, and the assistant can answer questions from your transactions, invoices and reports, and draft or update records when you ask it to.

Your client lists two tools, search_tools and execute_typescript. Through them the assistant finds and calls 46 SuperBooks tools: 45 across 12 domains, plus list_teams, which lists the teams a connection can use. Each tool still checks its own permission: search_tools shows only the tools your connection can use, and a call to any other is refused.

Paste one address, then sign in.
Nothing to install. An assistant that signs in sends you to the SuperBooks consent screen, where you choose the teams it can use.
Claude
- In Claude, open Customize → Connectors, select +, then Add custom connector.
- Paste the server address and select Add.
- When Claude sends you to SuperBooks, sign in, choose the teams Claude can use, and select Authorize.
That is the path on Pro and Max. On Team and Enterprise, an owner first adds the connector under Organization settings → Connectors, then each member selects Connect under Customize → Connectors. The Free plan allows one custom connector.
ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT on the web, turn on Developer mode under Settings → Security and login.
- Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, select +, and give the app a name.
- Under Connection, paste the server address as the public endpoint, and create the connection.
- When ChatGPT sends you to SuperBooks, sign in, choose your teams, and select Authorize.
- Start a new conversation and add the connection from the tools menu.
Needs a ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Education account. In a workspace, its policy can limit developer mode.
Any other MCP client
- Add a remote server with the address above. It speaks Streamable HTTP.
- A client that supports OAuth opens the SuperBooks sign-in for you.
- A client that wants a fixed header takes an API key: create one under Settings → Developer and send it as a bearer token.

Tools that delete or void, such as transactions_delete and invoices_void, stay off until your team turns on Destructive AI tools under Settings → AI. Even then, only a connection with full access can use them.

Teams, chosen when you sign in
The consent screen asks which teams the assistant can use: All my teams, which includes teams you join later, or Specific teams that you tick. For an assistant that signs in, SuperBooks checks your membership again on every request, so leaving a team cuts it off from that team straight away. An API key keeps working until someone deletes it.
Permissions you can read first
The consent screen lists the permissions the assistant asked for before you select Authorize or Decline. For read-only access, connect with an API key made with the Read Only preset: it can use the tools that read, and nothing else.
Verified clients
Claude and Perplexity are recognised by their exact sign-in addresses and marked Verified on the consent screen. A client SuperBooks does not recognise can still connect. The consent screen marks it as an unverified developer and warns that SuperBooks has not verified it, so select Authorize only if you started the connection yourself.
Keys you can revoke
An API key belongs to one team and works only on that team. Delete it under Settings → Developer and it stops working.

What is the SuperBooks MCP server?
A remote Model Context Protocol server at https://api.superbooks.io/mcp, over Streamable HTTP. It runs in Code Mode: your client's tool list shows two tools, search_tools, which finds the SuperBooks tools your connection can use, and execute_typescript, which runs a short TypeScript program that calls them. Through those two an assistant can reach 46 tools: 45 across 12 domains of your books, such as transactions, invoices, customers and reports, plus list_teams, which lists the teams a connection can use.
Which AI assistants can connect?
Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Cursor and other clients that connect to a remote MCP server over Streamable HTTP. Claude and Perplexity are marked Verified on the SuperBooks consent screen. A client SuperBooks does not recognise can still connect, and the consent screen marks it as an unverified developer.
Which SuperBooks plan do I need?
Any of them. MCP access is included on every plan, the free plan too. Some assistants have their own requirements: ChatGPT needs a Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Education account with developer mode turned on.
Can I give an assistant read-only access?
Yes. Create an API key with the Read Only preset under Settings → Developer and connect with it: that key can use the tools that read, and none of the tools that change anything. When an assistant signs in instead, the consent screen lists the permissions it asked for before you select Authorize or Decline.
Which of my teams can a connected assistant see?
When an assistant signs in, only the teams you choose on the consent screen: all your teams, including ones you join later, or the specific teams you tick. SuperBooks checks your membership again on every request it makes, so a team you leave is out of reach straight away. An API key is different: it belongs to one team, only ever works on that team, and keeps working until someone deletes it.
Can an assistant delete my data?
Not unless your team allows it. Deleting a transaction, voiding an invoice and the other destructive tools stay off until the team turns on Destructive AI tools under Settings → AI, and even then only a connection with full access can use them.
