What the AI does with
your Scotia activity.
Connecting Scotiabank isn't the finish line — it's the input. Here is what SuperBooks does with each transaction, and the one step that stays yours.
Every Scotia transaction syncs into SuperBooks through Plaid — read-only. We can see the money move; we can never move it.
Upload a receipt, then attach it to the Scotia transaction it belongs to. It stays linked from then on.
Each Scotia expense is sorted into a category you control, and the expenses-by-category report adds them up for your accountant.
Profit and loss, burn rate and runway are computed from your Scotia feed each time you open them, so they are never a month behind.
Scotia posts in CAD. SuperBooks is multi-currency — bill a US client in USD, keep your Scotia expenses in CAD, and see your invoice totals in CAD at the day's published rate.
Every currency,
kept as it happened.
Scotia posts in CAD. Bill a US client in USD or a European one in EUR: each account, transaction and invoice keeps the currency it happened in, and your invoice totals convert to CAD at the day's published rate.
One read-only link to set up.
Up to two years of history.
SuperBooks asks Plaid for up to 24 months of Scotia transactions and categorizes each one it is confident about.
We can't move your money.
That's by design.
Plaid handles authentication. We hold a read-only OAuth token and nothing else — what you enter to connect goes to Plaid, never to our servers.
Full security disclosureWhat people ask before
they connect Scotia.
Straight answers, each one true of SuperBooks as it ships today rather than as it is planned.
Does Scotiabank work with Plaid?
Yes. Plaid lists Scotia as "Scotiabank", institution ID ins_38. In the snapshot of Plaid's institution list SuperBooks took on July 12, 2026, it is one of 191 active Canadian institutions.
Can I connect Scotiabank to QuickBooks or other accounting software?
SuperBooks has no QuickBooks connection: it is bookkeeping software itself, and it connects to Scotia through Plaid. To take those transactions into another tool, export them as a CSV: one file of the transactions you select, with a column naming the bank account each one came from.
Do I need my own Scotiabank API access or developer key?
No. SuperBooks reaches Scotia through Plaid, read-only, and Plaid runs the connection, so there are no developer credentials to request from the bank. Your own data is then readable over the SuperBooks REST API, its TypeScript and Python SDKs, and its MCP server — on every plan. Scotia runs a developer portal of its own at developer.scotiabank.com (checked October 5, 2026); access to it is the bank's to grant, and SuperBooks does not use it.
How do I link my Scotiabank business and personal accounts?
Connect Scotia through Plaid, choosing the online-banking profile that holds those accounts; SuperBooks then lists every account Plaid returns for it, and you choose which ones sync. All of them count as one bank connection on your plan. SuperBooks keeps one connection per Plaid institution for each company — for Scotia, Plaid's "Scotiabank" record — so connecting it again replaces that connection instead of adding a second one. If your personal and business accounts sit under two separate online-banking profiles there, only one of them can be connected at a time.
Who handles the connection when I link Scotiabank through Plaid?
Plaid does. You connect through Plaid — in Plaid's own window, or on Scotia's own site if Scotia uses OAuth — so what you enter goes to Plaid or Scotia, never to SuperBooks. All SuperBooks receives is a read-only token for transactions and balances — it can never move money — and disconnecting Scotia revokes it.
How much Scotiabank history comes across?
SuperBooks asks Plaid for up to 730 days — roughly two years — the first time you connect. How much of that actually arrives depends on what Scotia makes available through Plaid.
Does SuperBooks categorize Scotiabank transactions automatically?
Yes, when it is confident. SuperBooks applies a category above a 0.7 confidence score; below that it writes nothing rather than guessing, so the Scotia transaction stays uncategorized in your list until you set it.
Can I export my Scotiabank transactions?
Yes — your transactions export as a CSV on every plan and from every role, so you can hand Scotia activity to an accountant or load it into another tool whenever you want.
What does connecting Scotiabank cost?
Nothing to start: the free plan includes 1 bank connection and takes no credit card. Starter raises that to 3 connections and Pro to 10.
